Get ready for seven amazing days in Costa Rica! Our family adventure features incredible hikes and zip-lining and beach fun. We’ll be exploring incredible parks, rafting down jungle rivers checking out waterfalls and cruising the Pacific shores—with plenty of time to relax and enjoy our time together.

This is a family trip and we have planned the activities and flow of itinerary keeping that in mind. We recommend this trip for travelers 6 years old and higher.

We’ll raft through jungle canyons, horseback ride through the jungle, hike to steaming geysers, taste local organic chocolate—and get plenty of sun-and-fun time at some of Costa Rica’s best beaches.

Our Modern Adventure to Costa Rica is well-paced and packs in so many incredible experiences—yet it’s not without leisure time to explore the region yourself, or simply to unwind and relax. While our activities each day will vary, the cadence remains about the same, with most days starting between 8:30am and 9am, and finishing around 4pm, then reconvening for dinner around 7pm.

Our trips feature a range of dining experiences, designed to showcase the breadth and local flavors of the places we visit. In Costa Rica that means everything from lunches on the beach and along a jungle river ride, drinks and snacks by our relaxing spa pools and an incredible finale seafood banquet.

Traveling with dietary restrictions or allergies can be a challenge, but we’re here to help. Prior to your departure, we’ll send you a questionnaire where you can inform us of any special dietary needs you have. Depending on the information you give us, we will work with our in-country partners to adjust menus and be aware of allergies and restrictions on our trip. We kindly request that any changes to our menu are based on necessity rather than preference, as we work very hard to curate an exceptional dining experience that is difficult to change.

Alcohol is not included in this adventure, but may be offered at some meals for purchase at your own expense.

The majority of this adventure requires an easy to moderate amount of active participation: zip lines, rafting, horseback riding, and walking over short distances, often over uneven surfaces. It is required to climb some stairs to reach activity destinations or other locations. Although individual activities themselves are not heavily active or strenuous, some activities or locations may present challenges to persons with special needs or physical limitations.

Neither Modern Adventure nor any of its suppliers may physically lift or assist travelers onto transportation or on daily activities. If you have questions or concerns about particular activities or trip aspects, please don't hesitate to reach out to us.

Group travel is an intimate, empowering and fun way to learn about yourself and others. Like any good relationship, it thrives with respect. We ask that every guest honors the key times in a day to ensure everyone's experience is the absolute best it can be. This is everyone's adventure! We also appreciate that time is precious. Every trip incorporates a mix of guided and free time for optimal exploration. But if you’re looking for more time on your own, please let your trip leader know and they can advise the best times to do this.

Group travel is a wonderful way to meet new people and have shared experiences together. Our adventures typically have between 10 and 20 guests and our Modern Adventure Team. Our experiences are fun and inclusive. You can expect to be joined by a diverse group of people in terms of age, background and interests—including solo travelers, couples and friends traveling together. The common unifier of our guests is that they are curious, adventurous, and independent.

We have planned this trip specifically with families in mind and therefore may have young children, teenagers and adults of all ages traveling as guests. Please note the minimum age for this trip is 6 years old.
